Meet, Steven Eloiseau, Photographer.

What industry are you in?

Steven: Photography

What do you do professionally?

I am an Artist/Photographer.

Where do you work?

Self-employed.

What was your journey like to get to where you are in your career?

I'm still going through my journey, but the road to get where I am now has not been the easiest. There has been a lot of bumps and constructions on this path, but I expected nothing less. The journey so far has put my purpose into perspective and has been a daily reminder that I am still going the right way.

What was one of the most challenging lessons that you learned during your process?

The most challenging lesson I've learn is to always stick to your mission and beliefs. No person or dollar amount should have the ability to make you create something that you don't believe in or align with. The fear is that you may be passing up on a "great" opportunity, but the risk is that you will live with a regret. And that's not a position anyone wants to ever be in.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned during your process?

The most valuable lesson that I've learned during my process is to embrace the journey. Take in every moment even when it's not going the way you envisioned it; it all makes sense once you reach your destination.

What was your biggest obstacle?

My biggest obstacle was getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Every thing in my life at one point was systematic which led me to be complacent. I created a ceiling for myself and didn't even know. Committing to my passion full-time was the first step to getting through my biggest obstacle.

When did you realize you were going in the right direction, professionally?

This came to my realization when the art I was creating actually had impact on people that I didn't even know. It's one thing when you producing content for work, but it's another when you are told how meaningful your work was to someone.

What was a pivotal moment in your career that led you to where you are now?

The pivotal moment in my career was when I decided to take the leap and give my 200% to photography. I didn't know where I would land, but I had faith in my parachute.

How did you overcome doubt during your career journey/transitions?

Faith. Not just faith that things will work out, but having faith in myself that I can make things work no matter what. It's really difficult to pursue your goals in life if you're depending on someone else to believe in you.

For those who may be experiencing imposter syndrome, what advice would you give that has helped you?

Everyone is running their own marathon. Therefore while you're running yours remember to breathe, track your success/accomplishments (got to remind yourself who you are), don't compare yourself, be kind to yourself, and most importantly, keep running.

Feel free to share any experiences that you didn't mention, but you think would be useful advice for someone.

“Most important thing is to get rid of doubt. If you got doubt in what you’re doing it’s not gonna work.” - Nipsey Hussle
